When Priit and Katlin first told friends and retailers about their idea, everyone laughed.
“Paper litter boxes for cats? That’s your business?” Priit recalls, grinning. Katlin adds, “One store owner actually laughed us out of his shop. Two years later, he became one of our biggest customers.”
What started as a kitchen-table experiment — a cardboard box reinforced with tape and fi lled with litter — turned into something real when their cats used it immediately.
“They didn’t care that it wasn’t plastic,” Katlin says. “They cared that it was clean and comfortable.”
That small discovery became EcoPetBox — a 100 % biodegradable, veterinarian-recommended litter box that’s now used across Europe and North America. Priit explains, “We wanted to solve three problems at once: health, convenience, and sustainability. Plastic boxes harbor bacteria, smell over time, and can contain harmful chemicals. Ours are clean, lightweight, and kind to the planet.”
Today, EcoPetBox has grown into a full product family — biodegradable EcoPetBowls and natural Bio Litter made from sawdust and hay biomass from regenerating forests and meadows.
“It’s the first complete, plastic-free cat-care system,” says Katlin proudly. “Box, bowl, litter — all sustainable, all easy.”
Priit smiles: “Everyone thought we were crazy. Maybe we still are — just successful crazy.”
Katlin laughs: “I’ll take that.”
